The electrostatic dust mops – also known as “Swiffer mop” in the B2C market – have a unique composition that allows static electricity to attract dust to the mop. The floor mops have tiny polyester fibres which create a static charge that attracts dirt and dust particles. These dust particles then stick to the cloth. Through the movement of the mop, the polyester fibres absorb electrons and the floor wipe acquires a negative charge. The surface, and the dirt and dust on it, have a positive charge. The positively charged particles are attracted to the negative charge on the fabric of the mop. When the dust particles attach to the mop, they become mechanically wedged into the mops very small fibres. Because the electrostatic dust mops are not impregnated, there is no risk of leaving residues on surfaces or hands. So, one can dust a surface very effectively without any additions, solvents, chemicals, or water. This can be a very important factor, especially for healthcare purposes and for the use on sensitive floors such as ceramic. These mops are very effective for the removal of dust and loose dirt on smooth as well as uneven floors and surfaces. The electrostatic floor wipes are made of very strong materials and therefore they are suitable for several floor types.
